Description : Four over a century Tamaris mussels have been bred in the Lazaret Bay, around small huts assembled on pile. It’s a traditional activity which includes a dozen artisan farming operations. The Tamaris mussel is harvested year round but it is at its plump best from May to November. They are on sale at the La Seyne market fish auction or directly from mussel breeders. Tamaris mainly breeds mussels, and few oysters.
